NYT - "Meatless in the Midwest: A Tale of Survival"
This really does not apply to Minneapolis or Minnesota in general. I can’t substantively speak for other Midwestern cities though.
Chicago is SO much easier than anywhere else I’ve lived/been.
I recall eating at Chow Patti in Schaumburg Il and having an argument with some dude about how easy it was to be a vegetarian in the midwest. He was positive it was really easy to find food anywhere in the midwest.
I think he was right if you define midwest as “Chicago and no where else”. The author is right, the coasts are SOOO much better. I suspect he never left the city, nor had ventured into Amish country.
Coming from a smaller city in Indiana, it’s like vegetarian Mecca around Seattle; even the east side consistently has vegetarian options at every single venue.
